Opening Microsoft Office Documents PDF Print E-mail
Written by Wordsmith
Have you ever had a Microsoft Word or Excel document emailed to you that you couldn't open? I don't mean a random document or spam but one you were expecting from a known person. It is frustrating, especially if you’re on a deadline, but there is a quick fix.

One example is, if a person creates a document with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or an Excel spreadsheet on a Mac the end tag, .doc, .ppt or .xls is not always visible. If this document is then emailed the end tag is not included with the name. When opening this document on a Windows computer, utilizing Microsoft Office versions 2000 - 2003, the tag is required. If this tag is missing on the file you want to open add the needed tag  to the document by typing .doc or .ppt or .xls after the name.
