Template Installation
To install the template onto your Joomla 1.5 website:
- Once you have downloaded your template you will need to unarchive the resulting file by double clicking it. The unarchived file will contain several files such as the archived template, the Place Here module, a read me file, template map and other supportive documents and files.
- At this point you will need to open your browser and log into the administrator section of your website.
- Once logged into the administrator section of your web site go to the Extensions drop down menu, located along the top of the administrator interface and select Install/Uninstall from the resulting drop down.
- The Extension Manager window will open. Click on the Install tab, if it is not already selected. Click once on the Browse button located under the Upload Package File section. Browse to the location of the product folder you previously unarchived in step one. Once you have browsed to the template product folder select the archived template file located within and click open.
- Doing the previous will display the path and name of the template file to be installed, in the Package File:, field, locate on the left of the Browse button. After visually verifying the Package File: field's information all you have to do to install your new template is click the Upload File & Install button located to the right of the Browse button.
- The final step to installing your template is to set it as your default template by going to the Extensions > Template Manager, within your site's administration section. Click on the Site tab in the Template Manager window. A list of all templates available for the website will be displayed. To make your new template the default template you will need to click the radio button adjacent to its name in the Template Name column. Then click the Default button located top right of the screen. The Default template will have a yellow star next to it in the Default column.
- Next you will need to install the PIDP Styles Library plugin and Place Here Module. See the following installation instructions.
Additional Installations
PIDP Style Library Plugin Installation (Required)
The template package also contains the PIDP Styles Library Plugin. The PIDP Styles Library Plugin provides a growing selection of module suffixes to utilize when setting up your template. The module suffixes can be mixed and matched to create a custom look.
The PIDP Styles Library will be constantly growing, with new module suffixes added regularly. To add new module suffixes just uninstall the old PIDP Styles Library plugin and install the new plugin. You will not loose any module suffixes present in the old plugin.
- Log into the administrator section of your web site then go to the Extensions drop down menu, located along the top of the administrator interface and select Install/Uninstall from the resulting drop down.
- The Extension Manager window will open. Click on the Install tab, if it is not already selected. Click once on the Browse button located within the Upload Package File section. Browse to the location of the product folder you previously unarchived in step one. Once you have browsed to the template product folder select the PID Style Library Plugin and click open.
- Doing the previous will display the path and name of the file to be installed in the Package File:, field, locate on the left of the Browse button. After visually verifying the Package File: field's information click the Upload File & Install button located to the right of the Browse button.
- The final step to installing the PIDP Style Library Plugin is to make sure the plugin is published. Navigate to the Extensions > Plugin Manager, within your site's administration section. Find the PIDP Style Library plugin in the list and check the box adjacent to its name. Then click the Enable button located top right of the screen. A green check mark in the Enabled column indicates that the plugin is published. The PIDP Style Library Plugin must be published to utilize the module styles in the template.
Place Here Module Installation (Optional)
The Place Here Module is utilized in layout of content. This module allows flexibility in what content you present, the position the content appears in as well as providing additional parameters per content item.
- Log into the administrator section of your web site then go to the Extensions drop down menu, located along the top of the administrator interface and select Install/Uninstall from the resulting drop down.
