Following are some keystrokes for the Mac that we find useful.
Finder Keystrokes
⌘-shift-A Opens your applications folder
⌘-A Select All
⌘-option-W Closes all finder windows
Type the first letter of the file or document name that you are searching for then tab until you find it. If there are no files with the letter that you typed then the next letter in the alphabet will be highlighted. You can also type more than just the first letter to narrow your search.
shift-tab Selects previous item alphabetically
⌘-shift-H Opens your Home folder
option-click on the minimize button minimizes all Finder windows
General Keystrokes
option-Empty Trash Empties the Trash without asking "Are you sure?" and deletes locked files.
⌘-option-H Hides all windows except the one you're in
⌘-P Print
⌘-I Get Info
⌘-D Duplicate
⌘-E Eject
⌘-C Copy
⌘-V Paste
⌘-Z Undo
Other Keystrokes
Option-Drag Copy to new location
⌘-Shift-3 Take a picture of the screen
⌘-Shift-4 Take a picture of the selection
Option-⌘-Escape Force Quit |

For all your media playing needs VLC media player is a wonderful choice. This player will play just about any media you throw at it as well as it's an excellent choice for those who need a media server. You can learn more about it and download it from here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Also just for your information, do to this media players high level of portability there are versions of it for just about any computing platform even WinCE/PocketPC.

HandBrake is a great free application that you can use to convert DVDs to MPEG-4 videos. Some of it's really stand out features are the ability to adjust video output size and complete control over video output bit rates, containers etc. Handbrake is perfect for putting that DVD video you own on your iPod or any other MPEG-4 video capable device to watch anywhere. One of my most valuable free programs at work is my PDFLab. With it you can take pdfs and break them up into new pdfs or merge several pdfs into one. The interface is very visual and easy to follow. Great little program.
